The imaginary village of Swaddlecombe nestles somewhere deep in the south Devon countryside. It’s an area of outstanding natural beauty owing much of its protection from the horrors of modern life to its incredibly narrow roads, hills and narrow valley. These features successfully deter traffic and make mobile phones all but useless.
The River Swaddle runs through the village on its way to the coast near the town of Westerley.
Meanwhile, real life goes on and we can recommend visits to lots of great places in the area.
Lovely towns with interesting shops: Dartmouth, Topsham, Chagford, Ashburton and Totnes.
Places to explore: The South West Coast Path to discover lovely beaches and spectacular views, Burgh Island, Dartmoor, the Dart Estuary, the Exe Estuary, Rosemore NHS garden, numerous National Trust properties and lots of lovely coastal and inland walks…
